Gait Analysis & Fall-Risk Assessment Platform
Client: A healthcare technology firm focused on elderly care
Scope: iOS app · Android app · Backend system · Bluetooth sensor integration · Gait analysis algorithms
Delivery: Designed, built, and published to the Apple App Store and Google Play
The Challenge
Falls are one of the most serious health risks for the elderly, and early detection of declining mobility can make the difference in preventing them. Our client needed a way to objectively measure how an elderly person walks and translate that movement into a clear, clinically meaningful assessment of fall risk - all from a mobile device paired with a dedicated motion sensor.
What We Built
We delivered a complete, end-to-end solution spanning hardware connectivity, algorithms, and infrastructure:
- Cross-platform iOS and Android applications, developed and published on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
- Bluetooth integration with an external movement sensor, capturing motion data in real time during a walking assessment.
- A full backend system handling data processing, storage, and the assessment pipeline.
Proprietary Gait Analysis
At the core of the solution, we implemented proprietary gait analysis algorithms that derive 9 distinct gait parameters from the sensor data. These parameters feed a risk-based assessment model that turns raw movement signals into a structured evaluation of an individual’s likelihood of falling - giving caregivers and clinicians an objective, repeatable measure to act on.
Connected Mobile Experience
The mobile apps guide the user through each assessment, manage the Bluetooth connection to the sensor, and present results in a clear, accessible format. Behind the scenes, the backend orchestrates data capture, runs the analysis, and stores results - making each assessment available for tracking change over time.
The Result
A purpose-built platform that converts real-world movement into actionable fall-risk insight: native apps live on both major app stores, seamless Bluetooth sensor connectivity, proprietary algorithms measuring 9 gait parameters, and a backend system tying the whole assessment pipeline together.
